N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department and Jamestown Fire Department wrapped up a three day blood drive called Battle of the Badges on Saturday, January 6th.
The event challenged donors to stop by and donate blood, then select either Team Law or Team Fire for their vote. The Jamestown Police Department is reporting that they have lost the 3rd annual contest.
“This year, we had 158 donors,” they said in a social media post. “Team fire won with 82 donations to Team Law’s 76.”
They say the event will return next year.
The need for blood is always high. The latest statistics from United Blood Services finds that of the 60% of individuals worldwide that have the ability to donate, only 5% do.
In order to encourage more people to donate, both Jamestown Police and Fire Department hold the event to get donors to donate.
