VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A former Valley City man who almost dropped out of high school now works for Penske Team Racing based in Mooresville, North Carolina.
Wyatt Hatcher was contemplating dropping out of high school at the end of his sophomore year in Valley City but then he found a vocation that fueled his interest.
He said thanks to teachers and staff members at the Sheyenne Valley Area Career & Technology Center, he discovered a career he really loves. Hatcher said once you find that you’ll never miss a day of work or school. Now the 20 year-old, works for Penske Team Racing.
Hatcher was in Valley City visiting his family during the Holiday’s last month. He gave the media an update on his past and present situation.
Hatcher talked about some of the drivers he met, who work for the Penske Team Racing.
Hatcher said the earning potential for Penske Team Racing road mechanics is from $80,000 to $150,000 a year.
His mother Laurie Hatcher said her son never missed a day of school once his interest was ignited and now Wyatt Hatcher hasn’t missed a day on the job as a NASCAR mechanic for Penske.
Hatcher earned more than $50,000 in scholarships for his schooling in California before he went to work for Penske.
