N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) Program awarded loans to two North Dakota cities in December 2017.
Carrington will receive $339,000 for construction of a 5-acre inert landfill. The landfill project will protect groundwater resources from contamination.
Petersburg will get $905,000 towards a project to replace an aging, deteriorated sanitary sewer collection system. Drain tile also will be installed above the sewer to reduce the groundwater level, relieving pressure on basements and maintaining the longevity of streets. The new sanitary sewers will safely carry wastewater to the municipal treatment facility.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the funding for the CWSRF Program, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Clean Water Act. CWSRF programs operate nationwide to provide the funding necessary to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our valuable water resources.
