N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School boys basketball team used a strong second half to make it back over the .500 mark this season after a70-51 victory against South Border Tuesday night.
The Tornadoes (5-4) trailed by four after the first eight minutes, but then lead by four at intermission. The lead ballooned to 11 going to the fourth, before Oakes pulled away for good. Tyler Voightman’s 22 points lead the way for Oakes, with Garrett Meehl putting in an addition 10 points.
The Mustangs (2-8) had a team high 20 points from Collin Martz.
Oakes returns to Class B District 5 play Friday when they host Edgeley-Kulm/Montpelier. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts around 7:15 p.m., with tip set for 7:30 p.m.
