VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- On Saturday January 13th, Valley City High School hosted the VCHS Speech Invitational. This was an extremely huge tournament with 25 schools and 325 students in attendance.

There were over 500 individual entries spread out through the 14 different events. In the largest events, students needed almost perfect ranks to break into finals. In the team sweepstakes, Enderlin-MV placed first with 114 sweepstakes points. Dickinson captured second place with 61 sweepstakes points. West Fargo High School placed third (42 points) and West Fargo Sheyenne placed fourth (39 points).

Host schools typically don’t take a team trophy at their tournament, but Valley City did have 143 sweepstakes points. The Valley City High School speech team saw tremendous success and had over 50 students competing (which is the biggest team in years).
