VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Junior High School held its annual spelling bee on Wednesday, January 17.
Spokeswoman Kristi Shanenko said five students qualified for the school bee based on a preliminary round given to all junior high students. The school bee contestants were seventh graders Casey Kruger and Emmalee Jones and eighth graders Madi Klabo, Daniel Wintch, and Lily Douglass.
Madi Klabo was the runner-up, and Emmalee Jones was the school champion. Both Madi and Emmalee will now represent Valley City Junior High at the county spelling bee to be held at VCSU on February 6 at 1 PM.
