N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Miss America 2018 Cara Mund spoke to a sold out Denim & Diamonds Gala on Saturday, January 20th.

The 4th annual fundraiser benefits the JakeStar organization and has raised over $70,000 which has been donated to various nonprofits in the past.

Miss America Mund has worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for years, which has been supported by the JakeStar Foundation.

She says her appearance in Jamestown means a lot to her in different ways, as a return to her home state and a way to advocate her personal platform.

Although final numbers were not yet available, the Denim & Diamonds Gala hosted around 200 individuals Saturday evening.

Mund is the first ever woman in history to be from North Dakota and win the title of Miss America. In a recent interview, Mund shared some of her experiences as Miss America so far.
