VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Valley City man is facing several felony charges following an incident on Friday, January 19th in Valley City.
Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin said deputies and Valley City police officers arrested two men after they fled deputies conducting a traffic stop on Friday. The suspects abandoning their vehicle and fled on foot until both were apprehended.
The Barnes County State’s Attorney’s Office said 22 year-old Brett Allen Kohn of Valley City was charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and fleeing a peace officer. Kohn remains in the Barnes County jail on a 50,000 bond. His next court appearance is set for February 27th.
Meanwhile, 22 year-old Adam Christian Rittenhouse was charged with misdemeanor refusal to halt stemming from this January 19th incident.

On January 19th, 2018 at approximately 4:15 PM, Barnes County Sheriff’s Deputies initiated a traffic stop on I-94 Mile Marker 294 due to a traffic violation. The vehicle involved failed to stop for Deputies and continued into the Valley City area at a high rate of speed. After a short pursuit in the Valley City area the fleeing vehicle came to a stop and both male occupants fled from the vehicle on foot.
According to Sheriff McClaflin, Barnes County Sheriff’s Deputies and Valley City Police Officers were able to apprehend two suspects after a foot pursuit. The vehicle involved was impounded, a sum of money and a quantity of illegal narcotics were seized. The two male suspects were transported to Barnes County Corrections on multiple charges, one of the males is also being held for outstanding felony warrants.
