MADISON, S.D. (PlayNorthStar.com)- Valley City State University junior Allyssa Weitkum has been named the NSAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after breaking a 42-year-old school record, the conference office announced Tuesday.
North Star Athletic Association Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Allyssa Weitkum – Valley City State (N.D.) – Junior – Wauconda, Ill. – Weitkum broke a 42-year-old school record as she finished the 800-meters in 2 minutes, 22.40 seconds in the Sioux City (Iowa) Relays for Valley City State (N.D.). That career-best time ranks her first in the North Star conference by 1.79 seconds. Weitkum broke the VCSU record of 2:22.70 set by Vicki Bassingwaite in 1976.
