JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Alfred Dickey Library will be undergoing extensive renovations to help propel them into a 21st Century library.
At a meeting earlier this week, the James River Valley Library System Board reviewed when the work would begin on improvements within the nearly 100 year-old facility.
“The plan is to renovate several parts of the building while remaining open to the public,” Library Director Joe Rector stated. “However, when renovation of the main sections begins, we will have to close Alfred Dickey.”
While the official start time of renovations has not yet been set, Rector says the date and time frame will be established at a meeting on April 26th.
“[The] Stutsman County Library will remain open to serve the public, and it will have extended hours into the evening while Alfred Dickey is closed,” Rector explained.
The Alfred Dickey Library will turn 100 years-old officially on President’s Day in 2019. Interior and exterior work is needed so the facility can continue providing services to the area.
A contract with Nill Construction was approved for $376,300 to do the work on the century old library. The estimated total cost of the project has been set at $502,640.
They hope to have work done by the end of August.
