OAKES, N.D (NewsDakota.com) The beautiful thing about the game of baseball is that you’re never out of a game until you’re out.
The Oakes High baseball team trailed 5-0 going to the bottom of the fourth, scored nine in the next two innings to take a 9-7 lead into the fifth, trailed 10-9 going to the bottom of the sixth, scored three in that part of the game, and held on for a 12-10 victory versus LaMoure-Litchville/Marion.
The Tornadoes (2-1 Class B Region I) had nine of their ten hits in the final three innings, which included a triple and single from Tyler Voightman.
Garret Meehl earned the win, going three innings while striking out three. Alex Klever took the loss for LLM (1-2) throwing the sixth inning and striking out two.
Both teams play Saturday at the Tharldson Complex in Fargo at 11 a.m. LLM plays Kindred/Richland, while Oakes meets Northern Cass, and then plays Oak Grove 20 minutes later. The Oakes doubleheader can be heard on The Tornado KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starting at 10:50 a.m.
