JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The month of May is Better Hearing & Speech Therapy month and several area businesses will be celebrating.
According to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), this month provides an opportunity to raise awareness about communication disorders and role of ASHA members in providing life-altering treatment.
Lonna Schmidt, Speech Language Pathologist for the Anne Carlsen Center, says speech therapy helps a wide variety of individuals.
Schmidt says speech and audiology go hand in hand when it comes to providing services.
To celebrate the month, the Jamestown Regional Medical Center will be providing free speech and hearing screenings May 8th, 9th, and 10th.
Dr. Marissa Leese is an audiologist at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Leese says the screenings will focus on hearing, speech, and memory. She says they recommend all ages participate in the screenings.
Appointments are needed. You can call 701-952-4800 to sign up or for more information.
