JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County United Way helped several area kids by donating to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center’s Soles for Souls shoe drive.

JRMC Podiatrist Rachael Renschler started the first Soles for Souls through Community Action Region VI and Salvation Army Jamestown. United Way member Kevin Walker says they were able to donate 35 pairs of shoes totaling $1600 to the cause.

Several members helped purchase the shoes, which were then dropped off at Community Action Region VI.

“We’ll distribute shoes to children this summer,” said Kathy Williams, director of Community Action Region VI. “If we have extras, we’ll also give them to children before school starts.”

Salvation Army plans to distribute the shoes this summer before the new school year and as part of its Angel Tree program in December.
