VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSUVikings.com)- The Viking baseball team is the No. 7 seed for the upcoming NSAA Baseball Championships, which will be played May 4-7 in Jamestown and Valley City.
The Vikings will play all their games in Jamestown during the tournament, starting with the first round game Friday at 1 p.m. against No. 2 seed Bellevue University. Valley City and Bellevue are in the Jack Brown Bracket, which also includes No. 3 University of Jamestown and No. 6 Viterbo University.
The Charlie Brown Bracket will be played in Valley City on Friday and Saturday. The Charlie Brown Bracket features top seed Mayville State against No. 8 Dakota State at 1 p.m. Friday. No. 4 Presentation College will face No. 5 Waldorf University at 4 p.m. Each bracket will play a double-elimination tournament to determine a bracket champion. The two bracket champions will meet Monday in Jamestown for one game to determine the overall tournament champion.
Valley City State enters the postseason with a 14-28 overall record and a 7-15 mark in conference play. The Vikings went 1-3 this season against first-round opponent Bellevue.
If VCSU wins on Friday, the Vikings would play at 2 p.m. Saturday. If the Vikings lose their opening game, they would play a loser-out game at 11 a.m. Saturday.
