WAHPETON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Sheyenne Valley Area Career and Technology Center in Valley City participated in the 45th annual State Skills USA leadership and Skills Competition in Wahpeton April 8-10.

At the competition, Dennis Reinke Welding Technology Instructor at the Sheyenne Valley Area Career and Technology Center was selected as the 2017-2018 Skills USA Advisor of the Year.

SVACTC Director Jeff Bopp said Reinke is in his third year as the Center’s welding instructor in Valley City. In that time he has had several Skills USA state award winners and multiple state Skills USA officers. He and his students have been very instrumental in both the making of products to raffle as well as the selling of raffle tickets to raise funds for the chapter activities.

Reinke will be heading to National competition once again this summer with both a National Skills state winner and another newly elected State Officer.
