VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Commissioner Matt Pedersen said the desire for permanent flood protection spurred him to run for the office eight years ago following the flood of 2009.
Pedersen served eight years on the commission and is stepping down following the June 12th election after Jeff Erickson was elected. Pedersen thanked the community for their support.
Pedersen will continue to work as a CPA in Valley City. He’ll also help the city secure more funding for permanent flood protection as he serves on the State Water Commission.
City Commissioner elect Jeff Erickson said right now, he will spend time getting acclimated and try to do the best job he can while he serves as a city commissioner.
Erickson and other elected officials for the city and the Valley City Park Board will be sworn into office in the city hall commission chambers on Tuesday, June 26th at 4:30pm. The public is welcome to attend.
