JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In its second full summer open to the public, the Historic 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse has seen a steady number of visitors so far.

The state’s oldest standing courthouse has undergone numerous renovations including their newly renovated treasurer’s office. Steve Reidburn is the Site Supervisor for the courthouse and says they’ve had a great amount of people come through their doors.

Reidburn stated that he welcomes anyone who stops by to ask him questions and learn about the storied history of the courthouse. He says the visitors he’s hosted aren’t just from Jamestown and the state.

As the courthouse continues to operate, the need for donations still remains.

A major project that Reidburn says they’d like to complete is installing an elevator inside the courthouse to provide more accessibility at all the levels for everyone.

The courthouse is also hosting their summer concert series, which continues on July 8th at 1 PM with the band Old Friends. Reidburn says the Junior Sheriff program has also continued to be a big draw.
