JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A wedding ceremony Saturday will be the first in quite some time at the Historic 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse.

Site Supervisor Steve Reidburn says when the first renovations began at the courthouse, the primary reason was to create a community space for Jamestown. He says anything from social events to family reunions could be held inside. Earlier this summer, Reidburn says he was approached about holding a wedding ceremony inside.

Reidburn says the private ceremony will be the first of its kind inside the historic building since 1982.

Reidburn pointed out he hopes this first wedding in 36 years opens up more possible events and gatherings inside the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse.

As far as the summer concert series goes, Reidburn says D.W. Groethe will be performing his original music and poetry free to the public on August 5th. Joel Petosik and his cousin Isaac will be wrapping up the series on August 25th with civil war music. Both concerts start at 1 PM.
