HILLSBORO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Post 25 has made it back to the championship game in the Class B Central Region American Legion Baseball Tournament for the fifth consecutive year and will also make their way to the State B Tourney for the fifth consecutive year. Post 25 beat Hillsboro/Central Valley 9-1 on Thursday evening and improved to 26-6 overall, HCV drops to 28-8. Here are the Day three results from Thursday from the Central Region tourney.
Harwood 4 Hope/Finley 2 (elimination game)
New Rockford 11 MayPort 0, 6 innings, 10-run rule (elimination game)
Catcher Seth Soderholm hit a three-run home run and his teammate and right fielder Luke Ystaas hit a solo home run as Post 30 avoids elimination for the second straight game by defeating MayPort/CG in six innings. Cole Myhre was the winning pitcher, pitching a five- hit shutout with six strikeouts, two hit batters and only one walk. Sawyer Satrom took the loss, working four and two-thirds, six runs on eight hits. Kade Susie worked an inning and a third in relief. Soderholm went 1-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs and the three-run blast over the left field wall. Ystaas was 2-for-3 with a solo shot over the left field wall and a single. Tyrus Smith added three singles and an RBI and scored two runs. Hunter Thompson was 2-for-4 with a two-RBI single. New Rockford scored at least one run in every inning except the fourth. MayPort ends their season at 16-8.
Carrington 9 Hillsboro/CV 1
Starting Pitcher Kyle Leapaldt retired the first 11 HCV batters he faced and picked up the victory on the mound, working all seven innings, allowing one run, five hits, five strikeouts and two walks. Eli Nelson suffered the loss, working three and two-thirds, six runs and seven hits. Connor Aanderud worked in relief for two and a third. Leapaldt at the plate was 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the top of the third inning and a two-RBI single in the fourth. Trey Rosenau was 2-for-4 with two singles and scored a run, Seth Nelson had two singles and scored twice and Garrett Bickett was 2-for-3 with a sacrifice RBI. Carrington Post 25 has the day off on Friday and will play in the championship game on Saturday, July 28th at 1pm against the winner of the Friday 5:30pm game. If Carrington would lose on Saturday, then a repeat championship game would take place at 3:30pm on Saturday.
