JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police & Fire Committee has made the approval to turn 6th Street SE between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue as a one-way street.

The request comes after concerns were heard over the issue of parking along the street and at the Law Enforcement Center. Major Justin Blinsky reports that the LEC has a lot of different entities inside it that sometimes requires more parking than what is available.

Blinsky says to alleviate this, they would like to turn the street into a one-way from east to west along 6th Street SE. He says making it one-way would increase traffic flow and add between 6 to 10 more parking spaces.

Making it one-way would require the need for bump outs on either side of 6th Street for pedestrian traffic. The project was unanimously approved.

6th Street SE between 2nd and 3rd Avenue will become a one-way street with diagonal parking.
