STEELE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Rory Gentzkow went six innings, allowing three hits, and struck out five as the LaMoure Babe Ruth baseball team won their opening round contest at the State Class B Tournament 6-1 over Surrey Friday afternoon.

LaMoure scored a run in the first, before breaking the game open in the fifth with four runs off of five hits, including a three-RBI double by Landon Piehl.

Piehl also registered a single, and Tate Mart scored three times in the victory.

In other action, the defending State Champions from Langdon cruised past Casselton 6-1, Bottineau topped Belfield-South Heart 3-1, and Thompson routed Steele 8-0.

Saturday’s play starts at 10 a.m. with loser-out play as Casselton meets Surrey, followed at 12:30 with Belfield-South Heart and Steele. LaMoure and Langdon meet at 3, and the day concludes with Bottineau and Thompson at 5:30.
