CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For 4 years, Ostlie’s Sunnyside Acres has opened up their gates to show interested individuals their growing operation of an uncommon crop in North Dakota.

Mike and Lindsay Ostlie have their operations roughly 9 miles south of Carrington and grow hops, a crop used primarily as a flavoring and stability agent in beer. Lindsay says the bitter crop is mixed with malt to make different varieties of IPA and name-brand beers.

She points out that the hops are showing burrs which then lead to cones. Ostlie says they’ll look to harvest the crop a little earlier than normal because of the conditions this summer.
