WATFORD CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High football rolled to their first win of the season with a 47-6 win on the road at Watford City on Friday night. The offense started fast and the defense didn’t allow a first down until late in the third quarter.
Jamestown won the opening toss and deferred to the second half and after a quick three-and-out, the Jays marched 52-yards for a Chris Erickson touchdown run. All but one of Watford City’s drives in the first half ended in negative yardage, the other was a pick-six by Jeremy Williams.
The second Jamestown drive lasted one play when Tommy Falk hit Williams for a 47-yard touchdown to make it 13-0. A Jacob Shulte strip sack gave the Jays the ball right back and after a few penalties Falk punched it in on a QB sneak from inside the one.
That was all in the first 12 minutes and the second quarter didn’t go much better for Watford City. Falk added to Jamestown’s lead with a 32-yard touchdown pass to TE Marcus Hochhalter. That put the Jays up 25-0.
Two players later, Williams intercepted Hunter Schwartenberger for that aforementioned pick-six. Jamestown would get one more score before halftime and lead 40-0 going into the break. Although the scoreboard only read 39-0, the scorekeeper never put up Chris Sayler’s extra point following the final touchdown.
Watford City finally got in the endzone with a Schwartenberger touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Jamestown has an undefeated Central Cass team coming to town on Friday night. They drilled Devils Lake 39-19 and QB Johan Leitz threw for 290 yards and four touchdowns.
