NEW ROCKFORD, N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The Rockets of New Rockford/Sheyenne will take their show on the road to Larimore on Friday night to take on the Polar Bears in a big Class B 9-man Region 2 football contest. Larimore turned some heads last week as they beat Cavalier and improved to 4-2 overall and 4-0 in R2 play. On the other hand, NR-S is rated fourth in the state, a 6-0 overall record (3-0 in R2) and averaging 59 points per game. Both teams have already qualified for the playoffs, so if Larimore wins, they could possible have a first round bye in the playoffs.  If NR-S wins, then they would have to beat Cavalier next week for a possible first round bye.

10th year Head Coach for the Rockets, Elliot Belquist, is worried about his teams stamina as they approach Friday nights game and next week Friday nights contest against Cavalier, the last two regular season games on their schedule. So far this season, the varsity starters for NR-S have yet to play in the fourth quarter. They have been pulled in the second half because they have won all of their games by 42 points or more.

On Offense, the Rockets have 2,199 total yards of offense, 1,580 passing and 619 on the ground. QB Teddy Allmaras has thrown 27 touchdowns, 1,492 yards, 65 for 88 (73.86%) and just four interceptions. One of his favorite receivers is Bo Belquist, with 24 catches for 678 yards and 12 touchdowns. Coach Belquist says their number one go to is the pass.

The Rockets will have to continue to make big plays if they want a ‘W’ on Friday night.

The game is scheduled Friday night at 7pm in Larimore, September 28th.
