THOMPSON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Rockets of New Rockford/Sheyenne lost a close back and forth contest to Thompson on Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 9-man playoffs, 32-28. No. 3 NR-S ends their season at 9-1, No. 1 Thompson improves to 10-0.

The Tommies scored first when Senior QB Cadyn Schwabe connected with Hayden Overby for a 32-yard catch and run touchdown. The Rockets would come right back, about three minutes later, Junior Hunter Thompson ran 57-yards for a touchdown, the 2-point conversion was good making the score 8-6 Rockets. The game went like that for three quarters, Thompson would score, then the Rockets would score. Halfway through the second half, Thompson would score two unanswered  to take a 32-22 lead.  The Rockets would score again but Thompson would control the clock down the stretch and pull out the victory.

Senior QB Teddy Allmaras for NR-S, threw two touchdowns, both to Junior Wide Receiver Bo Belquist. Belquist ran for another touchdown about midway through the fourth quarter for the last score of the game.

Thompson will host Oakes in one of the two 9-man semifinal contests on Saturday, November 3rd. AM 1220 KDDR the Tornado and newsdakota.com will have coverage starting about 1pm.
