JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Alfred Dickey Library reopened in September after a summer closure that allowed needed renovations of the nearly 100 year-old building.
Development Director Bill Kennedy says the closure has allowed them to renovate the library and prepare it for the Centennial celebration in 2019. Kennedy says this will also keep the library in service for the next 100 years.
Along with the replaced roof, door, and new lighting, the renovations updated the conference room, Children’s space, and established the beginning of the new Louis L’Amour Room.
Now, Alfred Dickey is working on raising funds to refinish the main reference desk, purchasing announcement screens and a Hi-tech Microfilm Reader, and also installing a projector and sound system in the lower level conference room. The total of all these projects is estimated around $23,000.
Kennedy says the hope is to have these projects done before the Centennial Celebration in 2019. The library is looking for donations that will help bring these projects to fruition.
