JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It’s been almost 2 years since the University of Jamestown officially joined the National Association of Collegiate eSports.

Also known as electronic sports, eSports is a form of competition using video games. The eSports program at the University is run like all other athletic programs, meeting four to five days a week for practice.

Coach Josh Knutson says the trend continues, as the University of Jamestown joined right the surge of colleges starting up their own collegiate eSports program.

Knutson says all the colleges joining have the same goal in mind; legitimizing eSports as a true athletic program.

Knutson says video games has been a unifying theme, making recruitment to the program a challenge and experience.

The co-ed sport continues to grow. For more on eSports at the University of Jamestown, click here.
