VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSUVikings.com)- Valley City State University senior Clarissa Olson and assistant coach Steve Rindfleisch both received regional awards from the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association on Wednesday.

Olson, a senior middle from Valley City, N.D., was named to the AVCA North Central All-Region Team, while Rindfleisch was named the North Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

Olson was named AVCA All-Region for the second straight season after leading the team with 305 kills, 105 blocks and a .346 hitting percentage. She ranked 17th in the NAIA in hitting percentage this season. She is now eligible for the AVCA All-American Team, which will be selected in early December. Olson set new school records for season hitting percentage (.346) and career hitting percentage (.320) this year. She broke the old season mark of .331 and career mark of .309, both of which were held by Cindy Thielen.

Rindfleisch, who just wrapped up his fifth season coaching at VCSU, was also named the NSAA conference’s assistant coach of the year earlier this month.
