JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The second day of the Stutsman County Boys Basketball Tournament was held Friday at the Jamestown Civic Center.

Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 62, Medina/Pingree-Buchanan 37

The Imperials started the second half on a 12-0 run to pull away from the Thunder in the consolation semifinals.

Ethan Kleppe had the double-double for the Imperials with 23 points and 10 rebounds. He would add three assists and four steals. Jamison Fettig filled the stat sheet with 12 points, seven rebounds and seven steals. Ethan Johnson was also in double figures with 12 points with six rebounds and three steals.

Michael Thomas led the Thunder with 18 points. He added five rebounds and three steals. Joshua Moser had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

South Border 40, Midkota 32

The South Border Mustangs ended the game on a 14-4 run for the win. Neither team did much in the third quarter. Midkota scored five points and Martin Dearcos’ three point play was the only points for South Border.

Collin Martz led South Border with 14 points. Ty Buchholz had 12 points and both had five rebounds. Nick Paulsrud came off the bench to lead the defense with nine defensive rebounds. Jory Boote and Logan Topp each had seven points to lead the Midkota. Boote, Connor Leininger, and John Edlund had four steals each. Edlund had a game high eleven rebounds. Topp had seven boards while Leininger and Jacob Timm each had six.

Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier 65  Ellendale 53

Ellendale had the end of the first quarter lead 13-10, but EKM outscored the Cardinals 19-8 in the second quarter to take the 29-21 lead. Senior Isaac Huber had a game high 22 points, including 6-for-6 at the free throw line to help the Rebels get back into the Stutsman championship game, he also had five assists and three steals. Phillip Hagen added 16 points and 13 rebounds for EKM. For Ellendale, Hunter Thorpe dropped in 20.

Kidder County 50  Carrington 47

The number one seed from District 6 will make their way to the championship game on Saturday night after knocking off the two-time defending Stutsman champs on Friday night. Kidder County led by as many as 11 points in the second half, the Cardinals cut the lead to three with time winding down in the fourth quarter. Gage Pfaff would hit a big 3-pointer to put his team up by six, then Payton Smith would hit a bank three with about :15 seconds left to cut the lead to three again. After a foul and missed free throw by KC, Seth Nelson would get a contested three point attempt off to tie but it rolled off.

Senior and four year starter Gage Pfaff had 16 points including four 3-pointers. Senior and three year starter Austin Schmidt add 13 points. The Wolves shot 41% from the field and made 10 3-pointers, but was 0-for-8 at the free throw line. Carrington was led by Junior Seth Nelson with another double-double, 21 points and 10 rebounds, 19 of his points came in the second half.

630pm – EKM vs. Kidder County (championship)
