WIMBLEDON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Both Barnes County North teams were victorious Saturday evening in the boys/girls doubleheader against Napoleon-Gackle/Streeter.
Girls- BCN 76, NGS 61
In game one of the doubleheader, the Bison girls were able to pull away from the Imperials in the 2nd half to win 76-61.
In a physical, foul filled first half, BCN had just a 5 point lead at halftime, but Bison leading scorer Clara Wieland went off in the 2nd half to aid her Bison to the 15 point victory. Wieland finished with 25 points on the night and 14 in the 2nd half. Off the bench, Alexis Greshik turned in a great performance finishing with 14 points on 7-9 shooting and Ashley McFadgen scored 16 points.
Leading scorer for the Imperials was Bailey Heflin with 24 points.
The win snaps a 5 game losing skid for BCN and hands NGS its 9th loss in a row.
Boys- BCN 69, NGS 66
The two teams battled back and forth all night before the Bison notched their 7th victory of the season with a robust 4th quarter.
NGS lead for most of the first half and into the 3rd quarter, but the Bison used a balance scoring attack to outlast the Imperials. Three different BCN players finished with 16 points (Tristin Roaldson, Mason Haugen and Tucker Brown) to lead the way for the Bison. The three headed monster of Roaldson, Haugen and Brown were opposed by NGS’ Jamison Fettig who finished with a season high 35 points which included a half court heave at the buzzer to make it a 3 point game.
The Imperials ran into some foul trouble as well. Their 2nd leading scorer Ethan Kleppe fouled out with 15 points, and their 3rd leading scorer Tyler Long fouled out with 11 points.
Barnes County North improves to 7-3 and Napoleon Gackle Streeter drops to 6-7.
