JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police & Fire Committee considered entering into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Stutsman County regarding the law enforcement shooting ranges.

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger came before the committee asking for permission to have City Attorney Leo Ryan work with Stutsman County regarding the memorandum.

Earlier this year, Edinger informed the County Commission the contract with the state would allow funding for the range to come from the North Dakota Highway Patrol and North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

City Attorney Leo Ryan says he had previously worked on a contract with the state regarding the Corrections and Rehabilitation use of the range.

The committee unanimously approved Ryan to work with the county on the memorandum of understanding.

City Engineer Travis Dillman later addressed the Public Works Committee regarding engineering services for the Sanitary Sewer Lift Station System Improvements. Dillman says the lift stations in question include Lift Station #11, Lift Station #20 and the Main Lift Station.

Work on #11 includes installing a new lift station or converting to a submersible lift station within the existing wet wall. #20 would be either a new lift station or repairing the concrete and installation of a liner in the existing lift station. The main lift work would be repairing and installing a liner in the existing lift station wet well.

The committee approved the engineering work on the lift stations.

At the end of the meeting, the new garbage and recycling pickup schedule was briefly discussed. City Administrator Sarah Hellekson cleared up one of the common misconceptions of the schedule and pickup.

Hellekson says individuals wanting the city’s assistance picking up the canisters can contact the city to pay the monthly $20 fee for the service.
