JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Two Rivers Activity Center evacuated all members Tuesday evening after a sprinkler head was broke in the gym, causing some minor flooding.
Facilities Manager Amy Walters reports that a basketball had struck a sprinkler head, breaking it. She says water sits in the the pipes and because the head was broken, the retained water spilled out onto the gym floor. Walters says crews were able to maintain the flooding to a portion of the gym.
“We may be at two of four courts depending on the drying situation,” Walters stated. “We’re working on getting airflow through the floor to dry it because some of the water got underneath the wood.”
Walters says their sprinkler system is connected to their alarm system. When the head broke, the alarms sounded. She says until the alarm is turned off, it is mandatory to have the center evacuated.
The center resumed regular hours Wednesday.
