VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A public input meeting to discuss the proposed 5th Avenue Northwest street improvement project will be held Thursday, February 21st in the Hi Liner Activity Center in Valley City from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
KLJ project manager Chad Petersen encourages residents who live along 5th Avenue NW to attend the meeting.
Petersen said the estimated cost the project is approximately $3.2 million dollars but he said that number could be less or more depending on the project selected following the comment period.
Several residents asked what will be the cost of their special assessments. Petersen said the estimated range for specials could be between $5,000 to $10,000 dollars per property pending the requirements for the property.
Meanwhile, city officials believe most of the residents along 5th Avenue NW want parking on one side of the street. They say under design guidelines for new construction, the street would have to be widened to 34 feet to safely accommodate parking instead of keeping it at the current 30 foot width.
