DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The final day of the 2019 Class B District 7 boys basketball tournament was held at the Devils Lake Sports Center on Monday with three games, here are the results:
Benson County 62 Warwick 51 (region 4 qualifier)
Dakota Prairie 69 Lakota 58 (region 4 qualifier)
The Knights improve to 15-7 overall as they beat the Raiders for the second time this year. Junior Jake Avdem had a game high 26 points, including five 3-pointers. Junior Jon Haman had 22 to lead Lakota.
#1 (No. 4) Four Winds Minnewaukan 54 #2 (No. 8) New Rockford/Sheyenne 49 (championship)
The number four team in the state was down 15-13 at the end of the first quarter, but took the lead by three points, 26-23 at halftime. Bronson Walter, the 6’9″ Sophomore Center for Four Winds/Minnewaukan, helped the Indians in the second half scoring seven points down low and Sophomore JaeShaun Shaw added nine. Shaw scored 12 total points, Jayden Yankton and Doug Yankton 11 and Walter ended with nine. The Rockets were led by Junior Bo Belquist with 16. The Indians improve to 18-3, NRS drops to 19-3 and the loss ends their 12 game winning streak. The Indians have won every District 7 title game since 2013.
