JAMESTOWN, N.D. (JimmieAthletics.com) – The top two seeds in the Great Plains Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament will meet Tuesday night in Sioux City, Iowa, as the 13th-ranked University of Jamestown takes on No. 2 Morningside (Iowa) College. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Jimmies (27-5) advanced to the title game with a 95-86 win in the quarterfinals over Hastings (Neb.), then defeated Dordt (Iowa) 89-76 in Saturday’s semifinal. Morningside (27-2) posted a 97-74 quarterfinal victory against Concordia (Neb.) and an 88-81 win over Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) in Saturday’s other semifinal.
Jamestown and Morningside split their two regular season meetings, with the home team winning each game. The Mustangs posted an 87-79 win on December 8 while the Jimmies won 88-75 on February 16 in Jamestown.
Both teams will represent the GPAC in the NAIA Division II National Championship, March 6-12 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
