JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The spring-like weather happening earlier this week came to a screeching halt Wednesday night.

Major highways and interstates in North Dakota remained close as the region continues to be pounded with heavy, wet snow and winds gusting upwards of 50 mph. The storm has also caused many businesses to close for the day, prompting everyone to stay inside today.

“Streets in town are nearly impossible to drive on,” the Jamestown Police Department reports. “Travel is not advised. Please stay home if possible. The chances of you getting stuck are very good and it’s not worth risking any travel.”

Schools in the region closed and businesses including Cavendish, Professional Eye Care, Sanford Clinics, City and County Offices, and the Jamestown Regional Airport.

Snow totals in the area include upwards of 14 inches in Edgeley, nearly 12 inches in Jamestown and more.

Blizzard conditions are expected to continue through 4 PM Thursday evening. If you have a weather announcements, postponement, or cancellation, email them to weather@newsdakota.com. We’ll get it on NewsDakota and on the radio.
