TOWER CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Three people are dead and one has been arrested following a two vehicle accident east of Tower City Friday night.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that a 16 year-old was eastbound on Cass County Road 10 when she crossed over the centerline of the roadway and struck a van head-on. The 16 year-old received serious injuries and was flown to a Fargo Hospital.

There were five individuals in the van. The 40 year-old driver, 43 year-old female passenger, and 46 year-old passenger were all killed in the crash. A 35 year-old female and 50 year-old male were injured. It is not known if any of the vehicles occupants were wearing restraints.

A short time after, 37 year-old John Wurtz of Utica, SD crashed his Ford F150 into one of the vehicles. He was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence and Possession of Marijuana. He was uninjured.

Multiple agencies assisted the Highway Patrol including the Ransom County Sheriff’s Office, Barns County Sheriff’s Office, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Buffalo 1st Responders, Sanford Life Flight, Casselton Ambulance, Cass County Coroner.
