EDGELEY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Flooding continues to ravage parts of North Dakota as spring melt continues.

Dickey County Emergency Manager Charlie Russell reports that Fullerton has been isolated by the Maple River.

“We still have tons of water to get out of the county and there is a lot of road damage out there,” Russell states. “Stay alert for changing road conditions.”

The National Weather Service reports that a flood warning has been issued for LaMoure, Dickey, Kidder, Logan, McIntosh, Emmons, and Stutsman Counties. The warning remains in effect until 12:30 PM Friday.

“As of Sunday afternoon, runoff from snowmelt has increased and is expected to accelerate this upcoming week,” the NWS reports. “Thus, overland flooding and high water along small streams will expand across much of south central North Dakota, between the Missouri River and the James River Valley. This includes the Beaver Creek tributaries in Emmons County, the tributaries of the James and Maple Rivers in Stutsman, LaMoure, and Dickey Counties, as well as the Prairie Pothole region of Kidder, Logan and McIntosh counties.”

Motorists and residents are encouraged to turn around and not enter flooded roads.

“Most flood deaths occur in vehicles,” the NWS explains.
