BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Some area students’ artwork was selected for the Keep North Dakota Clean (KNDC) contest held earlier this year.

“The 51st KNDC Art and Media Contest is the largest and longest-running poster contest in the state,” the organization states. “On average, more than 10,000 students Pre-K through grade 12 are motivated annually to take action to protect the environment for the people and animals that live and visit here. Collective environmental actions—even small steps—when taken together can create large-scale impacts.”

First, second, and third place winners, as well as their teachers, will be recognized at an awards ceremony at 11am on Friday, April 26 at the National Energy Center of Excellence at Bismarck State College in Bismarck.

“All first-place state winners receive a gold medallion, certificate, and $100 cash award. Newman Outdoor Advertising will also turn their artwork into a billboard and place it along a major transportation route near their hometown.”

Second and third place winners receive a silver or bronze medallion, certificate, and $75 or $50 cash award.

Some area students had their artwork selected and will be honored during the event. They include:

LaMoure 4th grader Lily Kramer taking Second Place
LaMoure 6th grader Nicholas Meisch taking First Place
