burn-restrictions-4-25

BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for Western and Central North Dakota this morning through early evening.

Critical fire conditions are present with gusty northwest winds of up to 45 mph, relative humidity as low as 15% and clear skies. Dickey County Emergency Manager Charlie Russell states that dry vegetation will create dangerous burning conditions.

“Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become difficult to control,” he points out. “This is going to be hairy as access especially to the Fullerton and really anywhere in north central county due to access, is convoluted and changes hourly.”

When a Red Flag Warning is issued, burn bans and restrictions go into effect in some counties. Stutsman, Logan, McIntosh, Foster, and Eddy counties are currently in restricted burn zones.
