VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – West Fargo scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back in a 14-4 win over Valley City in Legion baseball Tuesday night in West Fargo.

Abe Hestdalen, Peyton Jantzi and Max Burkhardt had three hits apiece. Burkhardt drove in six runs with three two-run singles in three consecutive innings.

Jacob Johnson, Mitchell Taylor, John Beutler and Easton Hesch each had one hit for Post 60.
With the loss, Valley City falls to 6-3 in region games while West Fargo improves to 3-4.

In game two, the Aces scored three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead, then held on for a 5-4 win.

Peyton Jantzi drove in two runners for West Fargo. Three pitchers combined on a five hitter for West Fargo.

Valley City cut the lead to 4-3 with two runs in the third on Avery Bennefeld’s bases loaded walk and Easton Hesch had a sacrifice fly.

West Fargo jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Taylor Boehm’s rbi single in the second.

Valley City got the run back when Cayden Lloyd scored on a wild pitch in the third.

Corey Nelson singled in Avery Bennefeld in the sixth to make it 5-4. Valley City had two on in the seventh on back-to-back walks to Lloyd and Bennefeld with two outs, but could not tie the game.
Bennefeld reached base five times with a single and four walks.

Valley City is now 8-9-1 overall and 6-3 in the East Region. They host Kindred Thursday at Charlie Brown Field for a doubleheader. Both games can be heard on KOVC 1490 AM.96.3 FM and newsdakota.com. Coverage begins at 5:15.
