LAMOURE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Twelve girls and boys from the communities of LaMoure, Berlin, Edgeley, and Oakes took part in the Babysitter’s Safety Day this week at the Emergency Response Center in LaMoure.

The class was offered by Community Volunteer EMS of LaMoure, LaMoure Fire Department, and LaMoure Police Department.

“The students learned their most important job as a babysitter is to keep the children safe,” stated Kelli Just. “They practiced CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver for a child and infant, learned basic first aid, fire safety, and personal safety.

The students also had an opportunity to practice fun and safe activities they could do while babysitting.

To end the class, Amanda Meidinger and her staff at Little Steps Daycare invited the babysitters to play with the children at daycare.

The class was instructed by Kelli Just (first aid, CPR, and projects), Art Hagebok (fire safety), and Sean Taylor (personal safety).
