2019team

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) It was a big such a big send off, it took two hours. The Valley City Hi-Liner Cross Country team is heading to the state meet in Minot today, and there was a nice sendoff that started with them loading the buses, stopped by three elementary schools and the high school before heading out of two.

Twenty runners, 10 boys and 10 girls, are heading to the State Cross Country Meet which is in Minot on Saturday.

Head Coach Deb Beilke says the runners had to earn their way on the state meet squad.

With the season wrapping up on Saturday, Coach Beilke says this has been a great group to work with.

One of the seniors and co-captain is Dakota Tahran. He has been running Cross Country for the Hi-Liners for the past four seasons. He reflects on his time as a Hi-Liner.

Sophia Boe, another senior and captain, echos those thoughts.

Both Boe and Tahran have goals they want to achieve on Saturday. For Tahran it does involve a number.

For Boe, it does not..

The meet begins at 11am with the Class A boys, then the Class A girls go at 11:45. The meet is at the Souris Valley Golf Course in Minot. The Class B boys will run at 2pm with the girls at 2:45pm.

Complete interview with Coach Beilke, Spohia Boe and Dakota Tahran is below.
