VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – ON THE MOVE 2020 will help you put an extra spring in your step as you start the New Year! Daily exercise benefits people of all ages and physical abilities and ON THE MOVE can help you be active and reach your goals in the new year.

ON THE MOVE will start January 1st and run until March 15th and it has more to offer than ever before including classes and incentive gifts, all for only $20! You can sign up at barnesonthemove.org or by calling 845-8518.

“Only 23% of Americans are getting enough physical activity as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” states Andrea Winter, licensed registered dietitian at City County Health District. Winter adds, “Research shows that getting more physical activity can lower our risk for many diseases including coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and stroke. Becoming more active also helps us sleep better and decreases stress levels.”

Lack of physical activity is linked to $117 billion in annual health care costs according to a report from the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Interested in classes, new fitness opportunities and incentive gifts? Then pay only $20 for a single membership or $45 for a family membership. Paid members will receive the incentive gifts and have unlimited access to all the Try-It sessions and classes.

“Everyone is welcome to join ON THE MOVE! You can become a free ON THE MOVE member by simply writing down your physical activity goal, sharing it with us and joining the community spirit!” states Sharon Buhr, ON THE MOVE Chair at City County Health District, “We will send you information to help you stay motivated.”

ON THE MOVE is in its 22nd year and would like to thank everyone who has joined throughout the years and welcome new members. The program is funded through a federal grant and 19 ON THE MOVE partner organizations.
