TOWER CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Picking a college can be a long process. Picking a college to attend and play sports at even longer. For Emma Baasch, that process is now over. At a signing ceremony Thursday, she signed her National Letter Of Intent to run track at the University of North Dakota.

The Maple Valley High School senior says she is glad to have the next chapter in her life set.

Having a good track program at UND helped in her decision, but it was not the only factor.

Baasch is a multi-sport athlete at Maple Valley. She competes in volleyball as well as several events in track. Long jump, the 300 hurdles, the 200 and 400 meter dashes, the 800 and the 4×400 relay. Oh if that’s not enough, she has pole vaulted. Her favorite event in track?

So what does she do between volleyball and track season? She is a member of the FM Acro Team. She says that gymnastics definitely helps her in pole vaulting.

Head track and Field Coach Kelley Utt answers the question, what makes her such a tremendous athlete?

She is also glad she is going to be so close.

In 2019, Baasch competed in the 200, 400, 300 hurdles and the long jump at the State Track and Field Championships.

If you want to see Emma perform as a gymnast, the Acro Team will be performing at halftime of the Enderlin/Maple Valley boys basketball game January 27th. But better get there early! Finding a place to sit and a parking place may be a long process.
