FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fargo Shanley ended the first half on a 10-0 run to take a 27-22 lead at the break, Then they scored eight of the first ten points of the second half to begin pulling away from Valley City in a 70-46 win in the quarterfinals of the East Region Girls Basketball Tournament at the Shanley Gym.

Reile Payne led the second half charge with 18 of her game high 25 points in the second 18 minutes. The last two, coming at the free throw line, gave her 2,000 for her career. Payne also had 11 rebounds for the Deacons. Mo Hakim added 14 points and Emily Srejma added 11. Hadley Huber added eight points, seven rebounds and ten assists.

Peyton Pederson led the Hi-Liners with 14 points and a team high 13 rebounds. Lindsey Noeske also had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Jadyn Dieterle chipped in nine points, seven rebounds and four assists.

The Hi-Liners fall to 9-14 overall and will take on West Fargo Sheyenne Friday at 3:45pm at the Scheels Center at the SHAC. The Mustangs lost 52-50 to Grand Forks Red River.

The Deacons,now 17-5, will face the RoughRiders in the second semifinal at 7:15 Friday night.
