JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fort Seward is looking forward to a summer filled with activities and a new camping experience in Jamestown.

Operating in 1872 to 1877, the well-kept grounds now feature an interpretive center, the largest United States flag on display in NOrth Dakota, a Veteran’s Memorial Wall, and overlooks the city of Jamestown.

Director Jennie Marks and her team has been hard at work to continue providing unique experiences at Fort Seward.

On top of programming all summer long, Marks says they will feature a rotating exhibit each weekend. She says this means there will be something new every week in the museum.

Another new experience will be the “Glamping Experience.” Earlier this year, the North Dakota Department of Commerce announced some grant funding for the camping experience.

Marks says they also received some funding from Jamestown Tourism to help reconstruct the authentic frontier site on the Fort Seward Grounds.

Marks says because of the pandemic, they aren’t sure when the camping experience will be ready. She says those who are interested in the camping or their programming can follow them on Facebook for updates.
