TOLNA, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Starting pitcher Carter Anderson pitched a complete game 1-hit shutout as the Owls of Nelson County rolled past the Redbirds of Carrington 14-0 in five innings on Tuesday night in Independent League baseball, winning by 10-run rule. Nelson County Owls improve to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in District 4, Carrington drops to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in District 4.

Anderson gave up the only hit of the game in the top of the fifth inning when Grady Shipman hit a single. Eight batters for the Owls had at least one hit, lead-off man Jonah Ringstad did not have a hit, but was walked twice and hit by pitch twice and scored four times. Jonathan Mendez was 2-for-4 with a single, a double and three RBI.

Next up for Carrington will be on Thursday, July 10th in Carrington against Jamestown Blues for another district contest. KDAK will have the game starting about 2:50pm pregame, 3:00pm first pitch.
