FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Fargo Astros scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a 3-3 tie in game one on the way to a 6-3 win, and scored three in the third to open up lead and take game two 7-3 over Valley City at Starion Field in Fargo Wednesday.

GAME 1 – Fargo Astros 6, Valley City Royals 3

Eli Mach would score on a wild pitch to break a 3-3 tie then Benjamin Montplaisir’s rbi run single in the gave the Astros a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth. The Montplaisir came in on Chayton Senn’s single to cap the scoring in the opener.

Valley City tied the game in the top of the fifth on Mitchel Taylor’s two run single scoring Corey Nelson and Grady Karges. Taylor had two if the Royals eight hits.

GAME 2 – Fargo Astros 7, Valley City Royals 3

In the second game, the Royals scored in the second when Easton Hesch brought in Mitchel Taylor with an rbi single.

But Fargo would score three in the third and two more in the fifth to open up a 5-1 lead. They would add two more in the top of the seventh.

Valley City scored twice in the bottom of the seventh when Grady karges was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Avery Bennefeld drove in a run with a ground out.

Alex Thornton had three hits to lead the Royals offense. Easton Hesch had two hits for the Royals.

Valley City falls to 16-9 overall and 11-4 in the East Region.They host Fairmont/Hankinson/Lidgerwood this Friday in a non-conference game. Then the Alumni will play each other on Saturday. The Royals return to East Region action next Thursday when they travel to West Fargo to take on the Vets.
