JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Crews with Ringdahl EMS in Jamestown were left reeling after losing one of their own.

Sonja Flaagan passed away on July 16th. She was known for serving the people of Fargo, Casselton, Lisbon, and Jamestown since 2017.

“Sonja was a bright light in many patients lives,” Operations Manager Andrew Berkey stated. “She carried an energy with her that was contagious and powerful. We have lost an incredible friend and a great sister within in our EMS family.”

To help her family during their trying time, Berkey says they setup a GoFundMe to assist with funeral costs. He added it’s the least they could do for someone who had given so much to the community and service.

“EMS is a very close family and we are truly devastated and shocked,” he said. “Sonja served others in such an incredible way. Her care was filled with compassion and empathy and her ability to make someone feel better was always unwavered because of those traits.”

Berkey says EMS crews also set up a memorial for Sonja inside their building, as a simple way of thanking her for all she’s done.

“Sonja dedicated her life to helping those in need, and Ringdahl EMS is now asking for our communities help in ensuring that Sonja receives the memorial that she deserves. Please help us honor our dear friend. Rest easy Sonja, your brothers and sisters have watch from here.”
